Ryan says he's looking for two things in a safety

One of the priorities in training camp for the Cowboys is to find their starting safeties. New defensive coordinator said he’s looking for two thinigs.

“The safeties have to be able to tackle – that’s the No. 1 thing in my book,” he said. “Don’t give up the deep ball and be able to tackle.”

The Cowboys have signed extra players at defensive end and running back, but they have yet to add a veteran safety to compete with Akwasi Owusu-Ansah and Barry Church, the first-teamers. Still, they’re getting a chance to see second-year player Andrew Sendejo and undrafted rookie Collin Zych, a Plano product who played at Harvard.

Bryan McCann should also get in the mix when he’s able to practice next week.
