The Cowboys finally game-planned a little bit. Linebacker Keith Brooking expects that to result in a better showing for the defense Saturday night in Minnesota than in the first two preseason games.
“You can see that the package narrowed down a little bit,” he said Thursday after the final practice of training camp. The Cowboys return to Valley Ranch for a morning practice on Friday, then leave for Minnesota. “I can definitely see us getting better this week, for sure, with that game plan going and guys going at it.”
Brooking, who hasn’t played in a game yet, said he sees signs that the defense is getting ready for the regular season.
“When you start seeing guys getting their hands on balls, coverage getting tighter – ball disruptions, we call them, interceptions, things like that – you know that we’re getting closer. I say it all the time. You’re never there. But I see the progression. I see us getting better every day, and that’s good to see.”
