Cowboys owner Jerry Jones seemed pleased with the play of running backs Tashard Choice and DeMarco Murray, who got their first game action of the preseason Saturday night at Minnesota.
Choice ran three times for 14 yards, but had two strong runs called back by penalties. Murray, the third-round pick, had seven carries for 32 yards and one catch for seven yards.
“Choice ran real well, with authority, and certainly you could see the power of Murray and you could see some of his acceleration,” Jones said. “You actually saw him have the one reception. He’s outstanding with his hands. He can really help us in the passing game as a receiver.”
Jones said he feels good with Choice and Murray behind Felix Jones.
“We’ve got a couple of young ones back there, but I’m certainly comfortable with those guys,” he said.

Why is the OWNER and not the COACH commenting on who is playing where??? This is why Dallas will NEVER be a champion again because Jerry won't shut up and get out of the way!!!

I am more impressed with what Tanner has done this preseason than Choice. I think JJ should trade Choice while he still has value, and keep Tanner. Gurode is the same. Try and trade him while you can still get a 2nd round pick for him.

Tanner, I wouldn't sweat it man. You will be employed by some NFL team if not the 'Boyz. I think you've got more speed, explosiveness and moves than Choice does. Heck, Tanner might even get picked up by a real SB contender like the Pats, Jets, Bolts, or The Pack. So if I was you I would hope the dumbo 'Boyz cut me.

I don't see why Choice is at risk of being cut. I realize he doesn't contribute to special teams, but it's not as if the Cowboys have a new offensive coordinator. Coach Garrett is more than familiar with Choice's ability to contribute, and I believe Murray simply replaced Marion Barber.
I think we should keep the backs because all three have shown to be injury prone. Also, some form of rotation (3rd & situation) will maximize the strengths of each. This is a luxury, much like retaining Gurode.
I could see Choice and Gurode getting traded, but retained otherwise (vs. release). It just doesn't make sense to release these guys.
