The Cowboys will be missing several players against Denver, including six* starters. Linebacker Keith Brooking (hamstring), center Andre Gurode (knee), cornerback Mike Jenkins (stinger), guard Montrae Holland (back), cornerback Terence Newman (groin) and nose tackle Jay Ratliff (hip) will not play.
The Cowboys could get most of their injured players back after the exhibition game, according to coach Jason Garrett. Newman is out at least through the preseason as is rookie linebacker Bruce Carter (knee).
“All those guys who have been out have made good progress in their rehab,” Garrett said. “…We’ve had a plan for them to get through this first preseason game and get them going next week and hopefully start playing in preseason game two or three.”
The Cowboys return to practice Saturday at Cowboys Stadium. Their next preseason game is Aug. 11 against the Chargers.
