If anyone knows when a receiver has a good connection with Tony Romo, it’s Jason Witten.
Witten has been one of Romo’s favorite targets for years. Two years ago, Witten caught 94 passes from Romo as the Cowboys went to the playoffs.
So Witten understands what he’s seeing when Romo and Dez Bryant start making connections like they did Saturday night in a preseason game against the Minnesota Vikings.
“It doesn’t matter how many years and how many catches you have, there’s nothing like those game-like situations,” Witten said after the Cowboys' 23-17 victory. “There’s feel. There’s things that come up that are different than what you communicate in practice. I thought he did a great job, and Tony, of communicating and, just more than anything, seeing single coverage and one-on-one out there and making the throw and catch.”
Witten, like Romo, said all Bryant needs to display is some consistency. He’s got the big-play ability and the hands.
“He’s got a lot of ability, and obviously we saw what he can do with the ball,” Witten said. “Just the consistency that he has to play with now.”
