The Cowboys ended Saturday without a fullback. They began Sunday by getting one. Dallas claimed fullback Tony Fiammetta off waivers from the Carolina Panthers a day after cutting four fullbacks -- Chris Gronkowski, Shaun Chapas, Jason Pociask and Isaiah Greenhouse.
Fiammetta, 25, was a fourth-round pick of the Panthers in 2009. He has played in 24 games, rushing for 22 yards on seven carries and making five receptions for 34 yards.
Dallas will have to cut another player -- besides Montrae Holland -- to get both Fiammetta and free-agent signee Derrick Dockery in the fold.
The Cowboys had three of their released players claimed by other teams. Gronkowski went to the Colts; safety Andrew Sendejo is on his way to the Jets, who play the Cowboys on Sunday; and cornerback Josh Thomas was claimed by the Panthers.
The agents for receiver Teddy Williams and safety Akwasi Osusu-Ansah tweeted that their clients have signed to the Cowboys' practice squad.
