The small puncture in quarterback Tony Romo's lung has resolved, according to a source.
Romo remains day to day in regards to his status for Monday's game against the Redskins because of a rib fracture. He did not practice Thursday and probably will not practice Friday.
But the results of Thursday's CT scan, which showed the small lung puncture has healed, puts him one step closer to getting back on the field.
Romo still has to deal with the rib fracture and the intense pain associated with it. But he handled that OK in the victory against the 49ers last Sunday and the Cowboys expect him to try to play with it against the Redskins.
Romo has already been fitted for a protective jacket, and he likely will take a pain-killing shot before the game.
