Scandrick sees 'huge challenge' in Holmes, Burress, Mason, but says that's nothing new in NFL

Cornerback Orlando Scandrick already knows playing the New York Jets on the road on Sunday night is going to be a challenge. But what else is new in the NFL?

“Every week in this league is a huge challenge,” he said, considering the job of covering Santonio Holmes, Plaxico Burress and Derrick Mason of the Jets. “So I’m expecting a challenge. I’m up for the challenge. This is the first chance we get to go out there and show our improvements and prove that we’re a good defense.”

The Cowboys are coming off their worst scoring-defense season ever. Scandrick was part of that group. But he had a strong training camp, and the Cowboys signed him to a five-year contract extension worth $27 million.

“I’m just ready to go back out here and win ballgames,” he said. “The contract stuff is behind me. That’s taken care of. So I’m just excited. I’m really excited about this football team and what we can be.”
