Bradie James is still shaking his head at defensive coordinator Rob Ryan, who boasted in training camp that the Cowboys were going to “beat the a - - ” of the “all-hype” team.
The veteran linebacker laughed Wednesday when he talked about his reaction the first time he heard how the newly hired Ryan had picked on the Philadelphia Eagles before training camp had hardly even gotten going.
“We didn’t know him. We was like, ‘Rob, what the hell are you doing?’ ” James said, smiling as he talked to reporters at Valley Ranch on Wednesday. “You know what I mean? ‘We don’t know you. You can’t come in here and do that. Give us a heads up.’ ”
James said he reminded Ryan about his boast Wednesday, and that the players were ready to back him up.
“I talked to Rob today. I was like, ‘Look, Rob. We got your back. We got to go ball. And I know you’re going to be up all night long from the statements that you made in training camp,’ ” James said playfully.
And what did Ryan say?
James put it in family-friendly terms: “Yeah, shoot yeah! I’m drinking Red Bulls all night!”
