The Cowboys have released running back Tashard Choice.
He has been replaced on the roster by second-round draft pick Bruce Carter.
Choice missed practice Friday with a hamstring injury and was questionable for Sunday's game against the Eagles.
His release leaves the Cowboys with two healthy running backs -- rookies DeMarco Murray and Phillip Tanner.
Felix Jones will miss his second consecutive game with a high left ankle sprain.
Murray, the team's third-round draft pick, rushed for a team-record 253 yards last week against St. Louis. Tanner had the first carries of his career, picking up 34 yards and scoring a touchdown on six carries against the Rams.
Carter, a linebacker, had been on the non-football-injury list. He is expected to see his first NFL action against the Eagles.
Choice was drafted in 2008. He has fumbled in the past two games and was averaging on 2.7 yards on 28 carries.
After Choice's release, the following statement was posted on his official Twitter account, @tchoice23:
"I just want to say thanks to all the great dallas cowboy fans. My time in Dallas has come to an end and the best is yet come. God bless."

TC was never one of Garrett's boys. He doesn't work hard and now he fumbles too much. Good move. Garrett is slowly getting more players like Tanner who are smart, work hard, and know how to win.

TC was a good back. wish we could have found a way to use him more. i hope he lands somewhere that he can show his game. good luck TC, i was rooting for you!!!!

@james. Yup, exactly right. Should have cut Buehler along with TC and Felix Jones.

This was just another stupid move by the cows GM. Hey, but he does not care as long as the cow sheep keep spending $$$$$$$$$$ on his OVER PRICED tickets, parking, food/drinks and clothing he will never change. Also this was another wasted pick that Jaharry made and I'm sure that it will not be his last one.
