The Cowboys know they’re just a game out of the lead in the NFC East.
But they insist they are not overly concerned about any playoff race right now.
“We hear it. At the same time, that’s not our focus,” safety Abe Elam said. “Our focus is what goes on in this locker room and what we need to do. That’s what the main thing is we’re focused on moving forward.”
Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said it’s natural to keep up with the teams in the division, but he stresses to his team to keep its focus small.
“I’m certainly aware of what their records are, the teams in our division,” Garrett said. “But if you get so focused on how this team did against them, early on in the season in particular, you are not focused on the right things.”
The Cowboys are in second place in the division. They’re two games up on the Washington Redskins, who they play this week, and the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Cowboys meet the Giants on Dec. 11 at home.
