Left tackle Doug Free committed three false starts against the Dolphins, and offensive line coach Hudson Houck said he may have been hearing signals from the defense.
“Apparently they were barking out some things, but that shouldn’t bother us,” Houck said. “That shouldn’t bother us. We’re kind of downplaying that right now. We wanted to keep him positive going into that lat drive.”
It wouldn't be the first time the Cowboys have thought they heard something from the other side of the line of scrimmage. Center Phil Costa blamed four bad long snaps on noise from the defense in a Week 3 game against Washington.
But it was not all bad for Free. Houck said he did a good job in pass blocking. The Cowboys gave up one sack in the 20-19 victory against the Dolphins.
“They’ve got good pass rushers. That’s a pretty good defensive front,” Houck said.
