Romo still has swelling in his injured right hand, but he will be "good to go" Sunday

Tony Romo has spent a lot of time in the training room this week. All the things he's done have reduced the swelling in his bruised right hand.

"I just think everything is coming together like we thought," Romo told media at Valley Ranch on Thursday. "Each day is getting a little better. We’ll be good to go this weekend."

Romo was limited in practice again Thursday as backup Stephen McGee had more reps than usual. Romo practiced with his right hand lightly taped, and it still was taped as he talked to the media after practice. Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said Romo's hand still is swollen.

Romo was asked whether he has taken snaps from under center yet. He answered, "We’re still in the process of doing things like that. I think each day that stuff gets a little better."

Quarterbacks coach Wade Wilson said Romo should be the same Romo come Sunday.

"He’s thrown the ball well [in practice]," Wilson said. "He’s had a lot better two days than I ever anticipated him having."

Romo admits that after hitting his hand on Jason Babin's helmet on the fourth play from scrimmage in the Eagles' game, his initial thought was his season was over. Romo had his 2010 season limited to six games when he fractured his collarbone against the Giants.

"It definitely was a little bit of a surprise to see it," Romo said of looking down at his hand last week. "I wasn't sure what was going to happen, but it definitely made me think, 'This doesn't look good.' That was the initial reaction. But as we got the tests back and everything, it's been positive."

Romo has completed 65.4 percent of his passes for 3,895 yards with 29 touchdowns and nine interceptions. In the 37-34 loss the Giants on Dec. 11, Romo was 21-for-31 for 321 yards with four touchdowns and a 141.3 passer rating.
