The Cowboys signed linebacker Baraka Atkins and safety Justin Taplin-Ross to futures contracts for next year.
Atkins, 6-4, 271, will be a fifth-year player out of Miami. He was drafted in the fourth round in 2007 by the Seattle Seahawks and played in 21 games for them in his first two years. He had 18 tackles and two sacks in nine games in 2008.
He was in camp with the Pittsburgh Steelers last summer.
Taplin-Ross signed as an undrafted free agent with the Cowboys last summer, but he failed his physical and was released. He started 13 games at Utah in 2010, recording 62 tackles and two interceptions.
