Tight end Martellus Bennett ready to test free agent market

Tight end Martellus Bennett is among 20 Cowboys who will be free agents in the offseason.

It’s safe to say he can’t wait to test the market in hopes of finding an opportunity to be a starter in NFL. He has been a disappointing backup for Pro Bowler Jason Witten since being picked in the second round of the 2008 draft out of Texas A&M.

“I feel I want to see what is available on the market,” Bennett said. “I feel like I am a guy that can start for a lot of teams in the NFL. That’s what I want to do. I don't want to be behind a Hall of Famer all of my career.”

All Cowboy fans are ready for his free agency!

Hated the guy from the first time I saw him on Hard Knocks.

At a public event he stood at the podium in front of the entire audience and said that he was only there for the beer and the white women.

Pure class.

All those haters
In dallas dont know football marty b has highest completion % lowest penalties and held jerald allen to 0 sacks

Dallas and blowmo never learned how to throw ball to someone who can dunk

When the dallas fans see a team that actually breks down
Film. They can all remember how hate brought down a team that used to be america's team

If he could stop the best wirhout working and being overated imagine what will happen when he has more than 3 passes a game???

After watching football 35 years try learning the stat about catches over 12 '. And then remember marty won higher pressure games than his teammates

Until anu of these blowhards work like a pro they cant understand how to take the game furrher than they can
Think or imagine

Martellus might have been the end for Jason Whitten but instead of learning from him he chose to learn from Terrell Owens' school of mouth off and pass catching/dropping 101 from Roy Williams. They should have dropped him and kept Terrance Copper when it came time to waive players and add to practice squads.

when the cowboys were on "hard knocks" ( i believe it was bennett's first season) - i remember jason garrett always having to babysit him, and have to explain things over and over and over and over.....he still looks confused when he actually plays. i believe he's a bit "challenged" -- or, as we say about my neighbor's dog that doesn't realize his tail really ISN'T another animal chasing him--"special."

bye you poc

Thank goodness. Another mouth we won't have to listen to

I've been a fan since the 70's . And it's hard to even ware anything with "DALLAS COWBOYS " on it. I think Jerry Jones. Should get a coach. And let him coach. Get rid of Scandric., Jenkins, Newman, Ball. And the offensive line need some improvement. The Quarter Back is only as good as the line allow him to be.
BOWHEATON

Good! I am glad this loser is leaving town. If he is not dropping a pass or running the wrong route, then he is committing yet another false start.

Serious talent horribly underperformed. Sounds like the entire Dallas team. So long Marsha! Enjoy Cleaveland you schmuck.

What a waste of 2nd round pick. Good riddence. Don't let the door hit you where the sun doesn't shine.

Bye bye, Marty. John Phillips is a better blocker and receiving tight end.

The Cowboys will never win a Superbowl again as long as Jerry Jones has a puppet for a coach. We had great coach in Jimmy Johnson but Jerry wouldn't ley him run the team.

Sine Troy , Emmit , and Mike this team has no heart, they can't even do the simple things like tackle , Ware can't do it all by himself

Thank god and grey hound he's gone. (c:

HE SHOULD TAKE JEERY JONES WITH HIM AND SEND US A GM WHO KNOWS HOW TO DRAFT PLAYERS. ITS INCREDIBLE HOW TEAMS LIKE HOUSTON,DETROIT, AND SAN FRAN HAVE PASSED US BY, AND HAVE NOW BECOME PLAY-OFF FOOTBALL TEAMS, WE DRAFT PLAYERS WHO CANT PLAY. EXAMPLE, SCANDRICK, BENNET,SPEARS, JENKINS. PLEASE SEND US A GM WHO KNOWS EHAT HES DOING AND LT JERRY ENTERTAIN IN HIS PRIVATE BOOTH. THIS TEAM MAKES YOU WANT TO ROOT FOR SOMEONE ELSE. THEY HAVE NO HEART AND SOUL.

Thank God he's going. He should take that loser Terence Newman with him. No doubt in my mind Newman cost us the east championship last nite.

You don't want to play behind a Hall of Famer your entire career cause you can't beat him out of that position. You're LAZY and not worth the second round pick we wasted on you! John Phillips is better than you! We should have gotten JerMichael Finely instead!!

dont let the door hit you in the a-s-s...buh bye

Good riddance!!!!!!!!!!

Cowboys who should NOT be back in 2012:
Marty Bennett
Bradie James
Terence Newman
Marcus Spears(should have been gone last season)

I might bring back Brooking because he's a good leader and can play the run.

Good. Maybe Bennett will find a starting position on a team that is looking for a disappointing, marginal performer who can also fill the role of team comedian. I won't be sorry to see him go.

Marty B pick has a complete Jerry imprint on it. An over rated 2nd rounder whose sole skill is to deflect passes which almost always ended up with other teams in a form of interception.

Marty B rode on the "star" moniker to build his next career as untelented rap musician.

So long, Marty.

This is the first piece of good Cowboy news I've heard in a long time.

then make a play, marty b. no, you're no starter and you'll find it out once you hit the market. all talent, no production...same thing with this guy since he did nothing at A&M.

bye
