The Cowboys jumped the gun on a press release announcing the signing of offensive lineman Pat McQuistan, but a deal is close. The team released tackle Taylor Dever in anticipation of the move.
McQuistan was a originally a seventh-round pick (211th overall) of the Cowboys in 2006. He played 40 games in Dallas, including 16 each in 2007 and 2008. The Cowboys traded him to Miami, where he started eight games in 2010. In 2011, he played 10 games with the Saints. For his career, McQuistan has appeared in 66 games with eight starts.
McQuistan, who worked out for the Cowboys on Friday, can play guard or tackle. Mackenzy Bernadeau, signed in free agency to start at guard, recently had hip surgery.

Signing Pat just re-enforces the general opinion that Bernadeau(?)will probably not be healthy enough to go to training camp or play at all this year.
