Claiborne, Crawford are 'locked in' on defense despite missing offseason work, Lee says

First-round pick Morris Claiborne and defensive end Tyrone Crawford got little or no action in the offseason workouts because of injuries.

But the Cowboys' top two draft picks won’t be far behind when training camp starts next week.

Veteran linebacker Sean Lee said they are as prepared as they can be for not having practiced.

“They were very attentive when they were there,” he said. “Through the walk-throughs and the meetings, any time Coach had a question for them, boom – they had it locked in. They knew what they were doing. Obviously, there’s a process for every young guy that they’re going to go through. But I think they’re going to be ready and they’re going to help us this season.”

It'll be a natural progression for Claiborn. Don't expect too much too soon.

Let's remember these guys are rookies. I'm just afraid people are going to expect to much to soon. It's a what have you done for me league now and seems people expect hall of famers first year or their a bust. Mo is going to be a great corner, maybe not the first game or even by the end of the year, but if he steadly improves, he's a success. That said, I can't wait to watch this group improve and lock down receivers as well! It's a process, just keep that in mind when your setting your expectations.

Can't wait to see that defense in action. I fully expect those guys on that side of the ball to be much improved.
