As it turned out, former Baylor recevier Josh Gordon was out of the Cowboys' price range. The Cleveland Browns used the second pick in the second round on Gordon, meaning the Cowboys would have ended up with Gordon only by bidding their first-round pick in 2013.
The Browns will give up their second-round pick in 2013.
Gordon was the only player selected Thursday, leaving former TCU running back Ed Wesley as a free agent.
Gordon didn't play last season after off-the-field problems with marijuana. He caught 42 passes for 714 yards and seven touchdowns in 2010. He transferred to Utah but never played, leaving for financial reasons.
In 2010, the Cowboys used a seventh-round supplemental pick on nose tackle Josh Brent.
