Stephen Jones, Cowboys director of player personnel, said former SMU receiver Cole Beasley will be back in camp today and will take part in this afternoon's Blue-White scirmmage. Beasley told coach Jason Garrett on Friday that he planned to quit football and he headed back to Dallas. But Beasley has changed his mind and is expected today in Oxnard, Calif. in time to take part in the afternoon scrimmage.
Jones said receiver David Little, a Midwestern State product who worked out with the team in April, also will be added today. So will a running back. Jones did not name the running back.
Jones said the Cowboys must make three cuts today to accommodate the roster moves: one before the scrimmage, to allow room for Beasley's participation, and two after the scrimmage. Beasley (5-8, 177 pounds) had turned heads with his competitiveness and catching skills during off-season drills and rookie camp. His departure caught Cowboys' officials by surprise. Jones said they are happy to have him back in the mix.
