Dallas Cowboys cornerback Morris Claiborne, the team’s first-round draft pick, took part in this morning’s walkthrough for the first time since being diagnosed with a sprained knee last week.
It remains undecided when Claiborne will return to padded practices. It could happen this afternoon but Claiborne indicated trainers are leaning more toward a return tomorrow.
Coach Jason Garrett said Claiborne has not been rule out for Monday’s pre-season game at Oakland. Claiborne said he plans to play in the pre-season but indicated trainers seem to be directing him more toward the second game, Aug. 18 at San Diego.
“I plan on playing in the pre-season,” Claiborne said. “I don’t know if it will be this first one, but I look forward to the second one. I’m just doing what the training staff wants me to do right now. It looks like I won’t be playing Monday but I’m looking forward to the next (game).”
Asked about getting back on the field for today’s walkthrough, Claiborne said: “It felt good, just to get in there and get those mental reps.”
Claiborne said he anticipates wearing a protective sleeve on his knee when he returns to padded drills.
