Word was floating out late Thursday night that the Cowboys had traded for an offensive lineman.
Twitter chatter said the Cowboys were close to acquiring seventh-year guard/center Ryan Cook of the Miami Dolphins. The Cowboys were said to be giving up a seventh-round pick for the former University of New Mexico player, taken in the second round in 2006 by Minnesota.
The reports were not confirmed.
Cook, 6-6 and 325 pounds, would be a versatile addition. He started three of six games as a rookie at center, then started 16 games in 2007 and 14 games in 2008 for the Vikings at left tackle. The next year, he played guard but started only seven games.
He appeared in six games last year with Miami, with no starts.
