One day into full-bore workouts, Dallas Cowboys offensive guard Mackenzy Bernadeau said today he is “not too far” behind his teammates in terms of conditioning despite opening training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list because of hip and knee ailments.
Bernadeau, who returned to padded practices yesterday, said he is unsure if he will be able to play in Monday’s pre-season opener at Oakland.
“I’m not sure yet. I have no idea,” Bernadeau said.
Coach Jason Garrett has expressed hope that Bernadeau can play against the Raiders. He will be monitored the next two days before a final decision is made.
“For a guy who hasn’t practiced at all in the spring and the early part of camp, he has come back and really did a good job,” Garrett said. “It was a good start. We will evaluate him … after tomorrow’s practice and see how much work he may or may not get on Monday night.”
Garrett said he anticipates his starters playing only a dozen snaps or less against the Raiders.
