Sunday’s scrimmage drew a crowd of 9,008, largest ever for a workout in Oxnard. Several fans had to be moved to standing-room areas around an adjacent practice field to accommodate the overflow. The scene registered with Carr, a first-year Cowboy.
“This is like me being in college. This is the kind of crowds we played in front of at Grand Valley State,” Carr said. “Just to see people lining both fields, it felt like a game. I can’t wait to get into that stadium when there’s 100,000 people screaming for us.”
Asked if this is what he expected when he signed with the Cowboys as a free agent, Carr said: “Most definitely. Playing for America’s Team, one of the greatest organizations there is. To come out here and wear that star and come out and represent, that’s what I’ve dreamed of since I was a little boy.”
