David Arkin gets third-team work at center for Cowboys, his first action at that spot

David Arkin took third-team snaps in Friday’s walk-through for the Cowboys, who are trying to find guys to play in the interior offensive line.

It doesn’t matter that Arkin has never played center.

“First time,” he said.

So how did he like it?

“It’s good. I’ll play wherever they want me to play,” he said.

Arkin didn’t get to play at all last year. The former fourth-round pick spent all of his rookie season inactive.

“Yeah, it was tough, but it’s part of the NFL if you’re not ready to go,” he said. “But I feel like I’ve put in the work. We’ll see what happens this year.”

For now, Arkin is being counted on guard, too. He was the first-team left guard in the walk-through on Friday as the Cowboys were missing Nate Livings (hamstring), Kevin Kowalski (ankle) and Mackenzy Bernadeau (hip).

Center was just another experience.

“Once you get the snap down, that’s the first thing,” he said. “Once you do that, making all the different calls, because you’re controlling a lot of the line calls. That’s a little different, too.”
