Cowboys offensive guard Derrick Dockery played a few snaps against the Dolphins before leaving to catch a flight to Washington, D.C., to attend a family funeral Thursday. Dockery's brother-in-law, Army Sgt. David V. Williams, was killed in Afghanistan on Aug. 18, according to The Frederick (Md.) Post.
"It was pre-planned," Garrett said. "...We were able to manage it, where hee was going to be able to come and play a handful of plays early on in the ball game and then we got him out of to the flight, and he was able to make that flight so that he can be with his family tomorrow."
Dockery played in nine games for the Cowboys last season, starting two. He was re-signed to the roster earlier this month after the Cowboys had injuries to four interior offensive linemen, and he is expected to make the roster.
