Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said it wasn’t seeing Tony Romo take a sack that made him hold his breath.
“When I held my breath was when I saw Witten take that lick,” he said after Monday night’s preseason game in Oakland. “And it was the same play that Tony got kind of contorted.”
Seven-time Pro Bowl tight end Jason Witten took a hard shot on a catch from Romo, who twisted away from pressure to make the completion. The hits, in the first quarter of the Cowboys’ 3-0 win, made Jones wince.
“Certainly, after it was over with,” Jones said of the plays, “said, ‘Probably time to move on here, get another quarterback in there,’ personally.”
