McSurdy suffers Achilles injury, becomes latest draft pick on shelf

Linebacker Caleb McSurdy, a seventh-round pick from Montana, left the field with a potential season-ending Achilles injury during today's afternoon session and did not return. After practice, coach Jason Garrett said he had not heard a medical update on McSurdy.

McSurdy’s injury means tight end James Hanna, a sixth-round pick from Oklahoma, is the only member of the 2012 draft class who has not suffered an injury. Safety Matt Johnson, a fourth-round pick who has battled a hamstring ailment, participated fully in drills Wednesday for the first time since camp opened.
