Throughout D-FW, most eyes will be on the Cowboys in tonight's pre-season opener against the Oakland Raiders (7 p.m., KTVT/11, ESPN). But there will be a Tarrant County connection on the opposite sideline as well.
First-year Raiders head coach Dennis Allen, 39, played in high school at Hurst L.D. Bell and played in college for Texas A&M. He was a safety for the Aggies and spent last season as the defensive coordinator for the Denver Broncos, where the team made the playoffs and finished fifth in sacks among NFL teams.
Allen is the NFL's youngest head coach and tonight will be his debut with the Raiders. Allen is the son of former Texas A&M linebacker Grady Allen, who also played in the NFL with the Atlanta Falcons.
