NFL spokesman: Cowboys doing waiting period correctly, don’t know about Seattle and T.O

More than a few eyebrows were raised by Cowboys fans and the team itself when former Cowboys receiver Terrell Owens signed with the Seattle Seahawks and seemingly jumped right into practice with them.

It had nothing to do with Owens joining the Seahawks but rather the requisite three-day waiting period that the Cowboys have observed after signing players to the roster, supposedly per NFL rules.

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello addressed the issue thusly in an email:

“Players have a 3-day acclimation period during the preseason. Day 1 is for the physical and meetings. Day 2 and 3 the player may participate, but only in helmet and shells or a padded shirt. Day 4 and for the rest of camp is in full pads. The Cowboys are doing it correctly. Don’t know about Seattle.”

So there you have it. The Cowboys have been doing it correctly. Don’t know about Seattle and their handling of T.O.
