Romo says Cowboys must rely on mental toughness and luck to be ready for Giants

Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo said the team must rely heavily on mental toughness, and lean on a little bit of luck, in preparation for the team’s Sept. 5 season opener against the New York Giants now that there is doubt surrounding the availability of the team’s top three receivers heading into that contest.

Jason Witten (spleen) and Miles Austin (hamstring) will not return during the pre-season. Dez Bryant (knee) stretched and jogged during the early stages of today’s workout but he, too, may not play in either of the team’s last two pre-season contests.

That means preparing for the Giants with minimal reps between Romo and his top receivers during the next two weeks. What has to happen for Dallas to be at its best in the season opener?

“You’ve got to have mental toughness,” Romo said. “I think everybody on the football team. At the end of the day, you’ve got to be at your best regardless of the circumstance ... If you’re lucky enough to get a guy like Jason or Miles back, that makes things a lot easier. But you still have to take the approach that you’ve got to be great today. And that’s the approach we take.”

If , and I mean a huge if the Cowboys can turn it on in the postseason like the giants , please don't censor this !!!! WE will have 6 , 7, 8 , all World Championships . Thats all the time this team has . 3 Years.

Romo talking about 'mental toughness' is funny, really. So far, Romo is a poor man's Danny White. In fact, he has much that needs to be accomplished before he is an equal to Danny White.

The way Romo talks, you'd think he has been a successful playoff-QB in the NFL.
