Kyle Wilber broke a finger in the rookie minicamp. Now he has broken a thumb in the first preseason game.
Does he feel cursed?
“I kind of do,” he said Monday night.
The rookie outside linebacker said he expects to return to Dallas for surgery on the thumb. He had surgery on a finger in the summer and missed OTA time.
The broken thumb, on the left hand, interrupted a promising game for the fourth-round pick. He had made some athletic plays to provide pressure and chase the ball, and he had one quarterback hit.
“It was alright, but it’s not the best that I can do,” he said. “I can definitely do better. I made some mistakes mentally. Physically, I didn’t set the edge real well.”
But he was optimistic about his progress.
“I felt like I was having a good camp,” he said.
But now, his camp is over. The regular season will be here before his timeline for healing.
