Spencer to miss workouts today, tomorrow with hamstring ailment; status day-to-day

Outside linebacker Anthony Spencer will miss today’s padded practice, and probably tomorrow’s, because of a hamstring ailment that flared up in Wednesday’s afternoon workout. Coach Jason Garrett declared Spencer’s availability a “day to day” situation. Victor Butler took the first-team snaps in today’s walkthrough and will during the afternoon practice as well.

Asked about the injury, Spencer said: “I’m pretty much nursing it. It’s sore. I’ve never really had hamstring problems, so I don’t know how it’s supposed to feel when it’s feeling better. When it feels better, I’m going to be back out there.”

Spencer joked with Butler about some divine intervention as the two left the practice field.

“It is Victor’s fault. He prayed for it,” Spencer said, laughing. “I saw him in his room, on his knees.”

Butler responded: “I only prayed for good health and the best for you.”
