Cowboys did think about going on fourth-and-3 at end of half, but not for long

The Cowboys thought about going for it on fourth-and-3 at the Seattle 40 at the end of the first half, but decided to punt.

“We didn’t want to give them a short field and another scoring opportunity there,” coach Jason Garrett said. “We were trying to maximize our opportunity there ,and we didn’t convert.”

Tony Romo’s pass was batted at the line to prevent the third-down conversion. The Cowboys did not have a better scoring chance the rest of the game.

“That was one where we had an opportunity to win on a slant route,” Garrett said. “The ball got batted at the line of scrimmage, and they made the stop on third down. We just felt like the right thing to do at that point because of the field position was punt it down in their end.”
