“I’ve always talked about consistency since my rookie season, and being able to try to do the same things every year and getting pressure on the quarterback and being named with a guy like Reggie White, just to have that opportunity is a great honor,” Ware said.
Ware has sacked Manning more than any other quarterback, with 12.5 against the Giants quarterback. He had 1.5 sacks against Manning in the regular-season finale last season.
"I'll take two," Ware said. "I think it was key situations. It was a different game, a different demeanor. We played with a lot of tenacity out there. And we played from the first quarter to the fourth."
Ware can become the team’s all-time sacks leader this year.
Though sacks didn’t become an official NFL statistic until 1982, the Cowboys still recognize Harvey Martin as their all-time leader with the 114 he had from 1973-83. They list Randy White second (111 from 1975-88) and Ed Jones third (106 from 1974-78, 1980-89).
