In retrospect, Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Rob Ryan mistimed his haircut. Ryan got his long locks trimmed before last week’s game in Seattle with plans to donate the hair to Locks of Love, an organization that provides wigs for children who have lost their hair to cancer. Ryan said Friday that he has grown his hair long on an annual basis to make similar donations for the past six or seven years.
One problem: Ryan and his wife, Kristin, pulled out the clippers a little too quickly, from all indications, before the team’s 27-7 loss to Seattle.
“The hair has to be, I’ve heard, from eight to 12 inches. And you cut it all off and you give it to kids with cancer, and they can use it,” Ryan said. “I did that for Locks of Love and, unfortunately, kind of like us, it came up a little short ... So nobody got to use it, I don’t think. It was unfortunate. But it was good intention.”
Ryan said he and his wife enjoyed a couple of margaritas _ “maybe one too many” _ before pulling out the clippers and that could have contributed to the errant trim.
