The Cowboys listed nose tackle Jay Ratliff out another week. Ratliff suffered a high-ankle sprain in the Aug. 25 preseason game against the Rams and missed the season opener against the Giants. Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said Ratliff is healing, but Josh Brent and Sean Lissemore will split time at Ratliff's spot again this week.
"He's making progress," Garrett said. "He's getting better every day and trying to do more and more and has done a real good job with his treatment and his rehab. We're hopeful, as it goes, he'll get some work in practice and be back sooner rather than later."
Safety Matt Johnson (hamstring) and center Phil Costa (back) also are listed as out. Costa tweaked his back after only three plays in the season opener. He will be replaced by Ryan Cook, who played 65 plays in his Cowboys' debut. It will be Cook's second career start at center.
Linebacker DeMarcus Ware was limited in practice for a third consecutive day with a hamstring injury. He is listed as probable and said Thursday that his limited practice time was "precautionary." Ware has never missed a game, playing in all 113 games of his career, with 112 starts.
