Jay Ratliff is out, and Jason Witten is doubtful for season opener

The Cowboys will be without four-time Pro Bowl nose tackle Jay Ratliff and could be without seven-time Pro Bowl tight end Jason Witten. The Cowboys officially ruled out Ratliff on Tuesday before they left for East Rutherford, and they list Witten as doubtful.

Ratliff injured his ankle in an Aug. 25 preseason game against the Rams and did not practice this week.

Witten, who lacerated his spleen in the Aug. 13 preseason game against the Raiders, had a CT scan Tuesday. The results have not been made available. Witten was limited in practice this week and had not been cleared for contact, but he said this week he would play if the scan shows the spleen has healed.

Cornerback Mike Jenkins, who returned to practice Sunday after missing all of the off-season and the preseason while rehabbing from shoulder surgery, is questionable. Safety Danny McCray (neck) is doubtful.
