Clarence Hill
My picks for Week 2 of the NFL season.
Thursday, September 13th
Bears at Packers
No way the Packers start 0-2 at home. Just no way it happens, right? Right. The Bears looked good in the opener but they are not ready to overtake the Pack. Packers 27-24
Sunday, September 16th
Buccaneers at Giants
The defending Super Bowl champions are on notice early. Bounce back against the Bucs or start the season with 2 home losses. Bet on Eli Mannning and the former. Giants 30-17
Raiders at Dolphins
These two franchises are known for a commitment to excellence and perfection. These two teams are an embarrassment to their histories. The Dolphins have much farther to go. Raiders 24-16
Texans at Jaguars
If the Texans truly are a Super Bowl contender, as they are purported to be, they can’t lose on the road to the Jaguars in what is a mismatch on paper. Texans 21-14
Browns at Bengals
Brandon Weeden was awful in the season opener at home in the dog pound. Don’t expect the Jungle to be a safe haven for the overmatched rookie quarterback. Bengals 24-10
Chiefs at Bills
Buffalo made a host of changes in the offseason yet the Bills remain the same. Jamaal Charles and Peyton Hillis run wild. Chiefs 17-15
Ravens at Eagles
It's good the Eagles escaped the Browns last week as they would be facing an 0-2 start. Yes, Baltimore is that good. Michael Vick will be running for his life. Ravens 26-17
Saints at Panthers
One of these teams will be staring at 0-2. Trust the Saints to bounce back. Not so sure about Cam Newton and Company who struggled mightily last week. Saints 24-22
Cardinals at Patriots
Don’t be fooled by Kevin Kolb’s late game heroics in Week 1. He is the same quarterback who couldn’t beat out the pedestrian John Skelton. This one could get ugly. Pats 33-13
Vikings at Colts
As Luck would have have it, Andrew went No. 1 but was not blessed with as good a team as RGIII. Adrian Peterson goes off. Vikings 20-17
Redskins at Rams
RGIII and the Redskins shocked the NFL last week winning at New Orleans. There will be no surprise at St. Louis. Redskins 28-21
Cowboys at Seahawks
Tony Romo returns to Seattle and exorcises the demons from the dropped field goal snap in the 2006 playoffs. Look for a big game from Romo. Cowboys 28-10
Jets at Steelers
The Jets come back to earth and re-open the circus as they struggle against the Steelers. Tebow will get his chances but the Steelers won’t be fooled by the smoke and mirrors again. Steelers 20-13
Titans at Chargers
Chargers reverse an old trend of getting off to bad starts with a victory over the Titans to move to 2-0 under Norv Turner. The struggles of Chris Johnson epitomize the Titans woes. Chargers 23-14
Lions at 49ers
The Lions are explosive on offense but the 49ers have the best defense in the league. Ask the Packers. And that 49ers offense has weapons galore for Alex Smith to work with. 49ers, 24-17
Monday, September 17th
Broncos at Falcons
Peyton Manning is back but Matt Ryan his too many weapons with Julio Jones, Tony Gonzalez and Roddy White. The Georgia Dome will be rocking from the start of Samuel Jackson yelling Rise Up in the Stadium monologue. Falcons 28-24
Last week’s record 9-7
