WEEK ONE NFL PICKS
SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 9
COLTS AT BEARS
Andrew Luck might be the future but the game one prediction is pain at the hands of the Monsters of the Midway. Bears 28-10
FALCONS AT CHIEFS
Arrowhead Stadium is one of the toughest places to play in the NFL. Former Longhorn Jamaal Charles is back and ready to run. Chiefs 21-14
EAGLES AT BROWNS
The season opener will feature the Browns holding a reluctant moment of silence for former owner Art Modell and their lost football season. Eagles 34-17
REDSKINS AT SAINTS
After the bounty suspensions and reversals, I pity any team playing in Superdome on Sunday. Not a good place for RGIII to open his career. Saints 35-10
RAMS AT LIONS
The Rams have lost more games the last five years than any team in NFL history. They got a new coach. But it’s the same old Rams. Lions 30-13
PATRIOTS AT TITANS
Tom Brady vs. Jake Locker. Looks like a mismatch. Smells like a mismatch and Sounds like a mismatch. Well, it is what it is. Patriots 27-14
JAGUARS AT VIKINGS
The Vikings are not the same team without Adrian Peterson. He will be limited in the game if he plays at all. Jaguars 17-16
BILLS AT JETS
The circus that is the Jets get serious in opener with a solid win against the Bills who have a revamped defense but the same woes on offense Jets 14-10
DOLPHINS AT TEXANS
And you thought Hardknocks was just a television series. It is real life for the Dolphins in the biggest season opening mismatch in the league. Texans 35-7
SEAHAWKS AT CARDINALS
The Cardinals may have questions at quarterback but their defense is solid and they are playing a Seattle team with a rookie QB without Marshawn Lynch. Cardinals 20-17
49ERS AT PACKERS
The 49ers find out early that it’s a lot different when success is expected rather than being a surprise team of a year ago. Packers 24-20
PANTHERS AT BUCCANEERS
There will be no sophomore letdown for Cam Newton. He is the real deal. And he will prove it against a revamped but still longing Tampa team. Panthers 26-21
STEELERS AT BRONCOS
Tebow is gone. But they now have a true football god in Denver in Peyton Manning. The result is another mile high loss for the Steelers. Broncos 23-17
MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 10
BENGALS AT RAVENS
The Ravens are my pick represent the AFC in the Super Bowl and they get off to a strong start with a beat down of the Bengals. Ravens 27-17
CHARGERS AT RAIDERS
The Ryan Matthews injury is huge for the Chargers who become one dimensional if he doesn’t play. Look for Darren McFadden to have a huge opener. Raiders 24-21
