Mike Jenkins said he doesn’t know yet what role he will play on Sunday against Tampa Bay, but he wants to get back on the field again fast.
“Right now, it’s just – first of all – I was a little upset from the game,” he said. “We got whupped, you know what I mean? Just to come back with the guys, find out what the scheme is, take it and just get better each way we can as a core.”
The Cowboys cornerback played in his first game last week after rehabbing from shoulder surgery. He was in for eight snaps on defense and 10 on special teams.
“It felt good just to get out there, get a little contact,” he said. “Test the shoulder out. It was good.”
He said he has no problem with special teams duty.
“I’ve played it before,” he said. “I’ve played it before. It’s the same thing. Just guarding people outside. If Joe D wants me to do something else, I’m for it. Whatever it may be.”
And yes, he’ll play safety, too, if needed.
“I’m just a DB right now. I’m just a DB,” he said. “Whatever it is – serious. All honesty.”
