Costa diagnosed with just a sprained ankle after scare

When center Phil Costa was carted off the field in the first half, coach Jason Garrett feared the worst.

Costa was writhing on the ground in pain. It looked like his leg was broken or at least dislocated.

But after the game, the Cowboys surprised everyone by saying Costa was diagnosed with a sprained ankle and could be available for next Sunday’s game against the Giants.

He will be evaluated further on Monday.

“It looked very severe to me,” Garrett said. “Whenever they bring the cart out and immobilize it and all of those things, it looked like a significant injury. But we will monitor it day to day. It looked severe when I first saw it.”

Barry Costa simply twisted his ankle by stepping backwards on the adjacent guard's foot.Yes he stepped onto his teammate's foot as he was moving abckwards. Twisted ankles look severe but if they are not subjected to pressure by someone pulling or tearing at the ankle usually no serious damage has occurred. Upshot: Barry Costa may play against the NY football Giants. As for replacing Sean Lee... Help!!!
