For two members of the Dallas Cowboys, the team’s contest Sunday at Carolina represents a reunion. Right guard Mackenzy Bernadeau and linebacker Dan Connor both moved from Carolina to Dallas as free agents in the off-season.
Bernadeau has started all five games for Dallas. Connor has been a reserve. Both look forward to the opportunity to showcase themselves against former teammates and come away with a victory when the Cowboys (2-3) meet the Panthers (1-4) in Charlotte, N.C.
“There’s always that feeling,” Bernadeau said. “Especially with a lot of good friends on the (Panthers). You always want to … come back with that ‘W.’”
Connor said: “It’ll be different, being on the other sidelines, being in the other locker room. I don’t even know if I’ve seen it when I was out there for those four years.”
Panthers coach Ron Rivera said his team’s rebuilding efforts made both veterans expendable.
“It’s one of those things where as you’re building toward your future, you’ve got to pick and choose,” Rivera said. “We had to pick and choose in that situation.”
