Defensive coordinator Rob Ryan said linebacker Victor Butler made a big improvement in run defense from the Seattle game to the Tampa Bay game.
Which is good, because he may be called upon for more action than normal Monday night against Chicago if starter Anthony Spencer can’t go because of his shoulder injury.
“Victor did an excellent job in the run game last week,” Ryan said. “He really focused on that. We had a couple of mistakes in that previous game, so he’s got a lot of pride and he stepped up and he did a nice job. If Spencer, who is a great player, can’t go, then Victor steps up, and we do an excellent job there, too.”
Butler had three tackles and a pass defensed against Tampa last week.
