Outside linebacker Anthony Spencer returned to the practice field Thursday, but he went to the side to work with trainers after the open period. But for Spencer, it marked progress. He did not practice last week because of a shoulder injury, and he didn't play against the Chicago Bears. He was hurt coming out of the Tampa Bay game.
Center Ryan Cook also returned to practice after not practicing on Wednesday, but he also worked on the side with DeMarcus Ware and guard Kevin Kowalski, who is on the PUP list. Ware was not listed on the injury report Wednesday, but he was limited in practice the week before because of hamstrings.
Neither punter was present for practice. Brian Moorman suffered a groin injury Monday, and Chris Jones has been trying to recover from a knee injury suffered in the Tampa Bay game.
Cornerback Morris Claiborne and safety Matt Johnson were not seen as the period open to reporters ended.
