On Monday, it was Witten who had his buddy’s back after a five-interception performance that low-lighted a 34-18 blowout loss.
“Everybody knows the story on the Tony,” Witten said. “Tony is most competitive guy I know. He is a heck of a quarterback. It was a tough night for him. He will evaluate and be better because of it. He is an elite, elite quarterback. He will get back to playing the way he knows he can play.”
Witten said Romo knows he tries to do too much and needs to take care of the football but he says the Cowboys need to help him.
“We have to do a better job getting him easier runs and easier completions so he doesn’t have to create so much.”
