In the clearest indication yet that DeMarco Murray won’t play Sunday, coach Jason Garrett said in his Friday morning pre-practice press conference that the running back would most likely be doubtful for the game. Murray was present at the start of practice but it did not appear that he would participate in full work.
The Cowboys also began practice without centers Phil Costa and Ryan Cook, leaving Mackenzy Bernadeau to work at center and Derrick Dockery to take his spot at right guard.
But tight end John Phillips (ankle) and fullback Lawrence Vickers (knee) were working.
Garrett expressed confidence in Phillips. “John’s a tough guy,” he said.
Cornerback Mike Jenkins also was not expected to practice.
