Defensive end Jason Hatcher could share a chuckle about his two offsides penalties on the opening drive last week, but he was embarrassed about them.
“That’s ridiculous,” he said. “On third down. That got them in a drive there.”
Hatcher said he was just too amped up.
“I was, I was,” he said. “It was just one of those things. When you play the Philadelphia Eagles, you just be all riled up. You just try to go out there and make a big play, kind of spark the team. That was my thinking. I was trying to jump the snap count. Didn’t work out.”
Hatcher said coach Jason Garrett was true to his word about having the quarterbacks give the defense 800 hard counts this week. It started Wednesday in practice.
“It was a lot of them, man,” he said. “We need it. ... We need to get it down so we can be more disciplined out there. There was a lot of them. I caught myself flinching a little bit out there. Luckily, I didn’t.”
