Running backs Felix Jones and DeMarco Murray were back on the practice field Thursday at Valley Ranch, although Murray went inside with a trainer during the period open to reporters and then returned shortly.
Jones missed practice on Wednesday. He was back for Thursday’s work with wraps on both knees.
Nose tackle Jay Ratliff, defensive end Ben Bass, center Phil Costa and cornerback Orlando Scandrick were not present during the open period.
Murray is practicing this week for the first time since suffering a sprained foot in the Oct. 14 game at Baltimore. After leaving with the trainer, Murray came back by himself with his helmet on and jogged to his spot in the stretching line.
Coach Jason Garrett said the availability of either Jones or Murray does not depend on the other’s availability.
“I think they’re separate issues,” he said. “We want both of those guys to play in the ballgame.”
It was a light-hearted scene when Jones walked to the field. Defensive end Marcus Spears, standing nearby, playfully drew the attention of reporters to Jones' presence. Jones dropped his mouthpiece, came back to pick it up, and Spears called out to the reporters, "He dropped his mouthpiece!"

Why would Felix Jones dropping his mouthpiece shock anyone? He drops enough footballs that it shouldnt be a surprise when he puts something else on the ground.
