Jones said he expected to make the playoffs, still does and that's how Garrett will be judged

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said he didn't know if his team would finish 8-8, which brings up questions about coach Jason Garrett's future and what he needs to do to keep Jones from making franchise-changing decisions after the season.
Jones didn't want to answer that question, saying only that he expected to win and still does and there is no misunderstanding about that.
"I’m just not gonna talk about … When you say tangible success, we certainly plan on winning ballgames the rest of the season," Jones said. "We’ve got five more to go and I do expect to win games right here. We’re going to get ready and expect us to compete. Now, we’ll probably be playing a healthy Vick, which can give you some of the same problems that we dealt with here today. Yeah, I expect success. Now, I don’t have any implied or anything that I’ve said, ‘Success, a level of success, or else.’ I’m not going there and haven’t and haven’t gone there in my mind. I expected to come in here and win today. And I expected to win again and to win again. Under those circumstances, you don’t have to think about those things.''

The Big Problem is this: GM/Capitalist Marketing Homme a.k.a Crocodile Face IS NOT INTERESTED IN WINNING. REPEAT: THIS IS A FOOTBALL TEAM WHERE OWNERSHIP/MONOPOLY DICTATORS ARE NOT AT ALL CONCERNED WITH WINNING!!! INSTEAD THE GOAL HAS BEEN TO SELL THE IDEA THAT THE TEAM CAN WIN MAINTAIN A GRIP ON POWER AND CONTROL EVERYTHING IN ORDER TO KEEP CROCODILE FACE'S "EGO" & "PRIDE" INTACT. THIS THUS MEANS 8-8 OR EVEN WORSE IS WHAT CROCODILE FACE ACTUALLY WANTS. THIS IS THE REALITY. RYAN & GARRETT TOO ARE KNOWLEDGE LIMITED SALESMEN & BUMBLING FRAUDS THAT MEET THE CRITERIA FOR HIRING THAT FITS CROCODILE FACE'S IDIOTIC ORGANISATIONAL MODEL. EITHER DUMP THIS IDIOTIC MODEL BY EMPTYING THE STADIUM AND NOT BUYING MERCHANDISE OR PUT UP WITH THIS CHARADE OF THE MARKETING/SALESMAN GM/OWNER SENOIR CROCODILE FACE. BUT REMEMBER THIS: NO OTHER MAJOR FOOTBALL CLUB WORLDWIDE IS RUN LIKE THIS. NOBODY!!!

This team will be lucky to win..one..of these final five games. Jerry knows he will HAVE to make drastic decisions..firing Garrett and trading Romo..that he never thought he'd have to make. What an imbecile he was for thinking those two could win here. Jerry can't roll that nonsense out to the paying public or majority fan base anymore. Garrett had no business getting that job in the first place. Jason Garrett was the first guy..that I knew of..who was hired as an NFL head coach whichout ANY previous head coaching experience of anytime anywhere. What was Jerry thinking? As for Romo? He continues to turn the football over evident by his two int's against the Redskins that upped his league leading turnovers to 17. Romo has been here ten years with nothing to show for his troubles. This is getting ridiculous. Trade him to Kansas City and go get our next franchise quarterback in 2013 with that first round pick. Sign Bill Cowher..Mike Holmgren..or..Sean Payton as our next head coach.

Garrett is not the answer. Pay Bill Cowher what he wants and lets start winning again. I'm sick of being mediocre every year!

Big changes needed in "Big D". Garrett & Romo have had their chance. Time to move on. Boy, look at Wade Phillips now!

@Lenny64: one thing he *didn't* say is what the headline says he said.

"'[W]e certainly plan on winning ballgames the rest of the season,' Jones said. "We’ve got five more to go and I do expect to win games right here...I don’t have any implied or anything that I’ve said, ‘Success, a level of success, or else."

Nothing in there about judging Garrett at all.

In fact, he said the opposite: "you don’t have to think about those things".

Headline writer didn't read the article apparently.

What the hell did he say? I have read it 3x and still don't know.
