Just CHILL: NFL Picks of the Week, Still above. 500 and holding steady

Clarence Hill

Thursday, Nov. 15

Miami at Buffalo

Buffalo is having a bad season, but the Bills haven’t quit. They have been particularly feisty of late. Look for them to break through with a home win. Bills, 23-20

Sunday, Nov. 18

Arizona at Atlanta

The Falcons are no longer perfect, but look for them to start a new streak while extending the Cardinals losing skid to six games. Falcons, 27-14

Cleveland at Dallas

Dallas is still a flawed football team. But the Cowboys have cut down on their turnovers and that should be good enough to beat the woeful Browns, giving them back-to-back wins for the first time all season. Cowboys, 28-17

Green Bay at Detroit

Logic tells me Green Bay should win this game. They are hot and on a roll. But the Packers are playing without their best defender in Clay Matthews. Detroit is desperate and at home. Lions, 28-24

Cincinnati at Kansas City

Again this is another game in which the decidedly better team seems the logical pick. But the Chiefs played tough against the Steelers last week. The running game is top notch, and the defense is feisty. Why not? Chiefs, 20-16

Philadelphia at Washington

The Eagles are a train wreck. Nick Foles proved to be no more than Foles Gold last week against the Cowboys. Now, he plays at FedEx Field. Good luck with that. Redskins, 21-10

Tampa Bay at Carolina

Remember what I said about the Detroit and Kansas City upsets?  Well forget it. Tampa Bay will go on the road and beat the Panthers. They have a running game they can count on, and they play hard and tough for their new coach. Cam Newton and Co. still have no clue. Buccaneers, 24-20

Jacksonville at Houston

This is 1-8 vs. 8-1. This is a no-brainer. The fat lady will start singing after the national anthem as the Jaguars have no chance. Texans, 31-14

NY Jets at St. Louis

Neither one of these teams is good. But the Jets have gone from being a circus to a zoo. The Rams are at home and have only lost one game there so far this season. Rams, 17-14

New Orleans at Oakland

The Saints are on a roll, winners of four of their last five and fresh off a victory over previously unbeaten Atlanta. The Raiders are 3-6 and going nowhere. Saints, 28-20

Indianapolis at New England

Andrew Luck has already faced a head-to-head battle with Aaron Rodgers and lived to tell about it. But that was at home. He is not beating Tom Brady on the road. Patriots, 31-17.

Baltimore at Pittsburgh

The 7-2 Ravens get the Steelers without quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. Don’t be deceived. Take the Steelers and Byron Leftwich. They will run on the Ravens. Steelers, 17-14

Monday, Nov. 19

Chicago at San Francisco

The Bears will be without quarterback Jay Cutler (concussion). 49ers quarterback Alex Smith has been cleared to play after also suffering a concussion last week. Do you trust Jason Campbell?  Not me. 49ers, 20-10

Last week: 9-5

Overall: 85-62
